Home Remedies for Fever

If the temperature of your body rises above the normal 37.5 degrees, it means that you are suffering from a fever. When this happens, the body’s natural mechanisms starts to react and you start experiencing bodily pain, headaches, shivering and exhaustion. The human body is vulnerable to changes in temperature because of changes in the climate, and also by the food that we eat. Even a simple fever could be an indication of something seriously wrong with your body.


A slight rise in temperature does not usually require a visit to the doctor as it can be safely treated with tried and tested home remedies. The amazing natural cures will cure your symptoms and provide instant relief. But if it rises beyond the normal temperature and persists for 3-4 days, then you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. 


Holy Basil 
Holy Basic is a marvelous aromatic plant that is a cure for a large number of ailments. It also has the capabilities to remove various disorders from within the body. It has antibacterial properties which make it an ideal mixture for fever. It is prepared by boiling the basil leaves in 2 glasses of water. After cooling, mix with half a cup of milk, one teaspoon sugar and one teaspoon of cardamom powder. Drink this concoction twice a day and feel your fever disappear within a very short period of time.

Fenugreek Seed 
Fenugreek Seed is also a good home remedy for fever. It has better curative powers than the traditional quinine. Boil a teaspoonful of these seeds in a half a cup of water. Drink this moist and sticky water twice a day. Besides curing your fever, it also gets rid of phlegm if the fever was caused by a cough or cold. 

Saffron Water 
Saffron water is also a very effective and potent home remedy for fever. One tablespoon of Saffron is boiled with 100 ml of water. One tablespoon should be given every hour to the patient until the fever subsides and eventually vanishes altogether. 

Grapefruit Juice 
Grapefruit juice gets rid of the burning sensation and is one of the best home remedies for fever. It is taken by extracting the juice from the fruit and mixing it with water. Water should be in proportion to the fruit juice. When this is consumed twice a day it provides effective relief to the patient. 

Raisin Extract 
Raisin extract works like magic and is a tried and tested home remedy for fever. Take a packet or raisin and soak it until the raisins are completely soft. Crush the raisin in the water that it was soaked in. Strain the crushed raisins, and to increase its potency, add a teaspoonful of lemon juice. Watch your fever dissipate when this concoction is used twice a day. 

Cold Pack for reducing Fever 
A cold pack is the simplest and one of the most effective home remedies to bring down fever. Take a wet bed sheet and wrap it around the body of the patient from the neck downwards. Cover the wrapped bed sheet with a blanket to retain the coolness within the blanket.
